Why do students postpone assignments? Causes and Tips

It is a known fact that the majority of students postpone or delay in submitting their assignments. Due to this, they suffer losing marks or acquire lesser grades.

Not clear about the topic of the assignment: 

When the topic of the assignment is not clear to the students it is very hard for them to proceed with it. They have no idea about how to go forward with it so they take more time on completing it. This must be considered as a serious issue, as no student could complete it without being clear about the topic no matter whatever the subject is. 

Fear about getting a fewer score: 

There are many students who are not trusting their own skills and not consider doing their assignments assuming that they would receive negative feedback from their professors, perhaps getting lesser grades. This stops them from doing their assignments. 

Abundant assignments:

There are times where the students are asked to complete their various assignments within a short period. This makes them feel frustrated and they feel better to postpone it rather than complete it. 

Lack of concentration:

The major reason for students to skip their assignments is the lack of concentration on their studies. These days’ students are engaged with plenty of activities that are related to entertainment so they fail to find time for writing their assignments.  

Lack of Self-Motivation 

Many students never take the marks that are awarded through the assignments as an important one. For such reason, they underestimate assignments and fail to complete it. One who motivates himself to acquire the highest grade will never skip his/her assignment.
